富士山に降った雨は多孔質の溶岩の山肌に染みこみ、長い年月を経て溶岩層の末端にしみ出します。
白糸の滝の左端の太い滝は表流水ですが、他の地層から吹き出すものは富士山の湧水です。
近くには芝川本流の滝「音止めの滝」があります。
